Trunk or treat

I love going around a parking lot, instead of going around streets. Lots of fun families and costumes. The boys had fun with friends. Craig got to chat with the guys. I got to trick or treat with a fairy princess -- that doesn't happen for me very often. :)

Finally, it's done

I have been working on this thing for a year. I've been stuck on it and put it away for months at a time. But I need to be able to get going on this year's Christmas quilt. So today I quilted the sun face and appliqued the label.

I also washed the fabric for the next quilt. Last night I drew it out. After having quilted the rays and the border.

I think I need some chocolate or something.

Instead, I have 4 Webelos coming to my house and we will talk about being a good citizen.

A close up of one of my favorite stars.

I love how the moon turned out.

Yea! the sun is complete. It was hard. But once I got going, I just worked it out. Funny how that happens.

Too much hair on the right side.

That is what Craig said. I'm not even.

I shrugged and said that I've always been a bit asymmetrical, and I like it.

"Oh," he blinked. And that was that.

Sunday School class

I have signed up for the Family History Sunday School class.

My family history has been worked on for generations. It is truely overwhelming. I look at the ocean of names and wonder where to begin.

I have been playing in the new.familysearch.org and am so grateful. It tells me where things are missing and what I can do.

I have a call into my aunt, that I think I will follow up on today. But I have a focus that I can work towards. Maybe I can take some family names to the temple. That would be amazing.

Hair cut

I have been putting off having my hair cut. In the mean time, I have been wearing it pulled back in a barrette. Or up in one of those hair claws. Always pulled back. Down for Church, maybe.

I haven't cut it since last June. It was long enough to donate to Locks of Love.

For some reason that makes me happy. Thinking my hair will help someone.

So I had just barely enough. My cute hair lady asked me multiple times if I was sure. "It will be really short, are you sure." "You have exactly 10 1/2 inches." "Here goes, are you sure."

She has cut my hair before, and I've always liked it. I am confident she can do a good job, and that it will grow.

It is short.

The shortest cut I've ever had.

Still, I like it.

I call Craig and tell him, "It's all gone. It's short, but sassy."

Boaz comes home and tells me he likes my hair. First thing when he comes in. A sweet boy.

Josh comes in the door about 30 minutes later. He stops dead. His eyes get huge. "Mom, your hair is creepy."

I love this.

I have been watching these plants all summer. The vines have grown like weeds. They are taking over the entire window box. But I waited and waited for the lovely flowers. Well, duh, they are fall flowers. And they are stunning. :)

Tomato bandits

I came home one afternoon and found them in our back yard. After I took their picture -- because they are beautiful -- I chased them away and surveyed the damage to my tomato plants. They got a good pruning, and I hope I have enough to freeze for some winter soups.
