Big trip

When Craig and I moved the boys out to California, we promised them we’d take them to Hawaii. It never really happened.

Thea lives on Oahu, not the Big Island with Kilawea raging right now.

So, the boys boarded an airplane from LAX tonight to travel to see their sister. Craig and I stayed home.

We gave them all the advice we could think of. They were seated about three rows from each other. But we got this picture before take off.

Some kind folks agreed to change seats and the boys got to sit together.

They’ll come back on Sunday. A fast trip. But they both are making it to Hawaii before we leave.

Promise fulfilled.

Scripture - 1 Nephi 17

So when I read this verse I get so sad for them. They missed the entire thing.

The journey of life is supposed to be happy. Not every minute of course, but there are blessings along the way; experiences that can show us the goodness of God and the beauty of creation.

To say that through the years they missed out on happiness is tragic.

Trek

This year was Trek. So great. In our moves, Josh has just missed Trek twice. I was worried he wouldn’t get the chance to go. But he got to go with his brother. Even better.

Josh was a big brother. He was in on the planning. He chose his color - purple. Boaz was in the orange family with Sam.

A beginning picture.

I dropped them off and snapped a few pictures.

Josh noticed me taking pictures.

No idea what Boaz is doing, but it was a good picture.

Some people took pictures and sent them to me. I was so grateful.

Filthy boys coming home.

I was hoping I’d get pictures of Josh. But I haven’t seen any. Oh well.

They had a great time. So many stories and such good experiences.

Josh came home to his call. So this is a bit out of order, but I got some good pictures because I waited.

And the answer is . . .

At 7:30 our house started filling up with loved faces.

And

And I’m sure I didn’t capture all the faces. I didn’t count how many people came. But we were surrounded and supported and loved.

Reading his future. He will be a missionary serving in Peru Trujillo North Mission. He will arrive at the Peru MTC on October 31.

This is the same mission as two of his cousins - my side. Same mission as one of his uncles - Craig’s side. And a number of friends have served in Peru as well.

We are beyond blessed. And we are so very thankful for this day.

I was able to push the tears away today. Lots of things to still do. But now we can make a plan and execute.

It’s here

Craig followed me out to the mailbox.

Dang. Craig took a video and my phone won’t let me load it.

So I did some screen shots.
