School fund raiser

Boaz's school held a 3K / 5K color run as a fund raiser. I wanted to stay pretty near Boaz. He took off fast and outran me at first, but in caught up with him and passed him by. I turned and found him off and on afterward.

Josh ran the 5K, Boaz and I ran the 3K. Josh told me one K is .6 miles. I figured that I normally run a 3K when I run my route around the cemetary. I kept a steady, but very slow pace and ran the whole way.

Josh told me he was surprised at how easy the 5K was. The end snuck up on him. He said that I would have bee able to run it and that he could have run a 10K.

It was a fun event. We came home colored and smiling.

Josh got some of the color in his mouth and was not pleased that I was after a picture. But I tracked hi down and got one. Boaz is posing for the camera with his best buddy. I took a selfie and tried to get a good idea of the brilliant orange I was plastered with. I was lucky that they didn't go for my face. :)

Josh is talking about the next 5K. I am thinking I could do it too, although not at his pace.

Only one more meet to go

I got lucky and snapped this picture.

What a good action shot. He came in fifteenth, but the first from his school. That means he got the king sized candy bar. He was happy.

The last leg. Pushing with everything.

Cross country epic finish

No pictures this time.

Josh ran here in town.

He did so good.

He came in seventh place. He got a medal.

After the race, his whole body ached.

I nagged him to drink water. He didn't want to do anything. When we got home he threw up the water.

Poor guy.

I sent him to the shower.

Then he drank a nutrition shake - the Walmrt version of Ensure.

He feels better.

He is very proud of himself.

Cross country meet in IF

Josh is loving running.

He is the fastest runner since Brad moved to high school.

He keeps track of his time and is rather hard on himself. But I think he is doing great.

A few pictures.

This was a relay. A team consisted of five members. All the number ones started off at the same time.  Josh was number 5 on his team. They all ran about one and a quarter mile laps. I felt bad for the slower runners.

I watched Josh start and I ran to a good part way point.

Here you can see Josh getting ready to lap a team from his own school. His Dad had just told him to see what he had got. He was turning on the last push.

I cheered him over the line. But no pictures. I'm proud of him. He was a bit disappointed with his time, but I am proud of him.

He didn't like the sun in his eyes.

First cross country run of the year.

School starts September 4th, but Josh had his first meet today.

He did so good. We are so proud of him.

He ran so hard, that he was shaky and nauseous. I got a few pictures of him towards the end of the race.

He is in blue.

Working hard.

Finishing strong.

Not quite

I ran my twenty minute route again this morning. Then I got I the car to clock it. Turns out it takes me twenty minutes to run 1.6 miles.

I can run -- little more than walk -- for twenty minutes.

That is not even a ten minute mile.

I am slow. (But, at least I am moving. Right?)

I did it!

This morning I ran for the full twenty minutes - with no walking breaks.

When I first started, I thought it would be impossible for me to go that long and that far. Today I think I will clock it in my car, so I know how long I go.

Today was a mini miracle. I just had to start small and not give up.

Next level

Today I moved it to running for 15 minutes - walking for one - running for five. I think I ran for about two miles. I am all sweaty and breathing deep. Not totally out of breath.

I am so excited. I am doing it.

Take that Nike!
