Aa quilt for Tyler Ann

She is already here, and she is beautiful. Honestly, there is something about babies that pulls at my heart and makes me happy.

This quilt took a little longer than I thought it would. I ran out of thread for the quilting and had to place an order. I might need to order thread for the next one on deck too.  The Internet has been very helpful when I've needed to find supplies.

If I remember right, her mom loves sunflowers.

The back reminds me of peaches.

Scripture - D&C 63

This time I am struck by His voice of warning. We are coming to a time where we will have to choose. Or we will have to acknowledge that we have already chosen. We will own up to who and what we have become.

An entire separation - we seem to be so good at extenuating circumstances. I don't think there will be that many. Either we have chosen God, or we have not.

And a few verses later He says this:

I can't help but think that we live in a time where mockery of the Divine is a national past time.

One more reason to be His peculiar people.

End of track season

During Spring Break Josh got sick. He was sick the whole week, which messed up his track training. Then as he started feeling better, he tried to jump right back into training. His body just wasn't recovered enough, and so he has struggeled to get back to where he wanted to be in his running times.

He did qualify on Tuesday for in the 1600 and the 800. So on Friday (Boaz's birthday) Josh and I headed to the track meet. He was competing in the JV races. He had high expectations. He was the top runner in that category. (Before he got sick, he had just made varsity. Super sad he was bumped back.)

Craig stayed home to be with Boaz on his 13th birthday. He didn't want to spend the day on the bleachers.

Josh ran his best race.

His personal best. Firmly in the 4:40s.

He ran so hard he was sick after the race. I got distracted taking to another partner, and then I was caughted behind a multitude of people and I missed the podium shot. I'm still hoping I can get a copy. If I do I will post later.

He tried to recover for the 800, but he had to drop out. His poor body really needs a good rest.

I noticed the times in the varsity race. He'll need to drop 15 seconds to win in that group. But with a whole year of running, you never know what might happen. He improved so much this year.

Craig and I are very proud of what he has accomplished this year in track. Josh felt good about his 1600. He was sad to miss the 800, but you can only go as far as your body allows.

Looking forward to a strong senior year.

A lesson from my lesson

I taught Sunday School yesterday. The topic was Spiritual Gifts. An easy topic to skim over and still think it is the meat. I wanted to make it personal.

I also wanted to encourage comments. Chocolate seemed to add an interest level. (I had a beautiful crystal bowl and each time somebody identified a gift of the Spirit, I added a piece of chocolate and promised they could have some at the end of the lesson.)

I don't remember really how this began, but this is my thought.

When we are five, we know we depend on our parents. We need them desperately.

When we are teenagers, we think we know everything and our parents are out of touch.

When we are adults, we panic and think now we have to know. I have bluffed my way through many things.

Hopefully we get back to the point when, as adults, we realize that our need for Jesus is as intense as a five year old's need for her parents.

Seriously, there is no way we can make it with out Him.

Things Craig can count on

I suggested dearth and taxes. He said those and me hiding chocolate and Josh leaving dirty (already drank from) glasses around the house.

Visiting with a friend

I have a dear friend who was baptized a year ago with her two boys. She came faithfully for several months. Her husband was resistant to her new faith. They had an unfortunate experience with a member of the ward and the boys lost their enthusiasm. To keep the peace in her home, my good friend has found herself in the frustrating position of choosing to go to church alone, or going to a different church with her family.

We met today for a late breakfast and a visit. She explained some of her precious thoughts on religion and faith. I always find that facinating. She didn't want to say anything to offend me, and I was determined not to be offended. We had a lovely conversation.

The reason I'm writing is because I thought of a scripture to share. I turned to where I thought it was and found a much better one than the one I was looking for.

I took a screen shot and texted it to her.

Verse two jumped out and demanded to be read.

I love to receive (and understand when it is) revelation straight from the heavens in a timely and immediate manner.

Visiting teaching miracle to brighten my day.

Scripture - D&C 50

One of my favorite scriptures. This verse shows the patience and love God has for us, His children.

He knows all things. He could command and demand to be obeyed. But in this verse he almost begs us to understand reason and logic. He slows down and offers us a discussion and elevates us in doing so.

He tells us He will speak so we can understand. That takes away all excuses. He knows our mind and thoughts. He knows what makes sense to us. He speaks to our understanding level and encourages us to reach just a bit further, trust more deeply and grow more steady.

Another reason I love Him.
