A quilt for Wyatt Danger Paraso

Nicko and Brittnee have a son. Such a cutie.

The quilt is done and sitting in my house in Idaho. He is in Utah. I'll have to find a way down there between school and band. Band being home football games, practices, parades and whatever new thing that gets inserted into my schedule.

But in the mean time, here is a picture of the quilt.

I used up scraps. Some of my favorite fabric.

Piecing the back.

Rolled up and ready to give away.

Cub scouts

Last night we went to a Pack Meeting at a lovely home in our ward. The main attraction was the zip line. After some teasing and a challenge thrown down, I went down the zip line. Both buoys were a bit sad that they didn't know that I went down. They weren't there to witness the momentous occasion.

However, I was there when Boaz went.

The handle bar is a fair distance from the seat. He is stretched out on his way down.

Showing the end point. It was suggested to have your feet out to "bounce" off the tree.

There was a new bobcat scout who over came his fear and shaking legs and took the plunge. His dad was very patient and encouraging with him. I remembered my shaking legs on several occasions and had a lot of sympathy for the little guy.  With his success, he was eager to do it again.

Isn't that it the way it goes. Each time we over come a personal fear, our abilities increase and our faith in ourselves grows and deepens. Our courage grows and we are able to go farther the next time.

Then I caught Boaz locked in a battle to the death with a cute girl in a pink hoodie.

He got in some very good hits. I'm not too sure that I was too happy to see him so enthusiastic as he battered away at her.

I asked him later if she went to his school. He said no, but she was mean to him in Primary. Humm.  Young love can be so awkward at times. I know he has his eye on another girl. I wonder if this is a desperate attempt to get his attention.

14 candles, finally

We were all together finally for the cake.

He was sick all morning, but he was feeling better for dinner.

An ice cream cake with big sprinkles. But I lit the candles, even if it was 12 days later.

Welcome home

Craig has been in Kansas for three weeks. We have missed him. We have texted and called, but that pales next to actually being there.

Last night Boaz and I picked him up from the airport at 10:30.

Today Craig taught me about the riding lawn mower. We cleaned up the branches that I had cut off the dead tree last week. He got the weed eater out and I had Boaz weed the flowers.

We built a fire in the fire pit and burned the branches.

Poor man, he came home to clean up all my messes.

Then we went out to Red Lobster. I love that place.

This was my dinner.

How delicious does that look?  I had never had scampi before. It was good, but I think I will just stick win the crab legs next time. You really can't beat perfection.

Boaz came. He is not big on sea food. He ordered chicken fingers, and then this.

That filled cookie was amazing.

Thea had crab legs. Craig had shrimp linguini.

Josh is floating on the river with the youth. He missed the yard work, but he also missed the filled cookie. :)

I love it when Craig comes home.

Question of time

How did this:

Turn into this:

He is 14 today.

Sometimes those 14 years took forever, and sometimes it seems like just yesterday that he gave me the gift of becoming a mother.

Happy birthday Josh.

Ensign Article - act upon this land as for years.

In this months Ensign I have found an interesting article.

I have moved a lot. We first moved to our town and I thought we would be in our rental for only six months. We ended up living there for almost two years. For those two years, I did not put the pictures on the walls, because the house was only temporary. I didn't put a lot of effort into the yard, because we weren't staying.

In this house, the plan was to stay a year and then move to the Mid-West. Our plans have changed, we are staying for at least one more ya school year. I have put up a few pictures, but I am living with things that if I felt more permanent I would change.

This article quotes a verse from D&C 51:16-17.  The Saints were in a temporary situation. The future was unknown to them. The Lord counseled them to ". . . Let them act upon this land as for years, . . ."

Happiness comes as we are fully invested in our lives. Not just waiting for real life to begin. Maybe I should think about the painting project I have put off. Maybe I should look into a few home repairs that I constantly notice.

I need to live in the moment and be fully invested in the now.

Hmmm

Josh, who will not even try my banana bread ate a banana muffin.

I even saw him take a second one. It is the same recipe.

I don't think I should tell him.
